Available Inventory

By default, the Inventory tab displays all available sites on SiteScout. There are several ways to sort through the inventory and narrow it down to content that is relevant to you.

To filter available inventory:

Click Filters and use the following options to narrow down the inventory list:

  • Filter by Media Type: Use the Media Type menu to filter the inventory by medium.
  • Filter by Exchange: Use the Exchange menu to filter the inventory by source.
  • Filter by Site Category: Use the Category menu to only show sites of a specific category.
  • Filter by Geography: Use the Country menu to only show impression statistics for a specific country.
  • Filter by Inventory Type: Use the Inventory Type menu to filter by web, mobile or email inventory.
  • Filter by Ad Size: Use the Ad Size menu to filter inventory by specific ad dimensions.
  • Filter by Impression Count: Use the Min. Imps. menu to filter inventory by a minimum number of impressions.
  • Filter by New Sites: Select New Sites Only to narrow down the results to inventory added within the last 2 weeks.

Once you’ve selected the filters you want to use, click Apply to filter the complete site list. The inventory list will be reloaded by your filter(s) and you can see the new count at the bottom of the screen showing how many sites or apps were found.

You can clear your filters by clicking Uncheck All.

If you know which website or mobile app you’re looking for, you can type it in the search box.

To sort the list of available inventory:

Click on the applicable column header to sort the visible statistics in ascending order. Click a second time to sort in descending order.

Once you’ve filtered the list to your specifications, you can get information about the inventory sources in the list.

Two of the most important items found here are the Daily Impressions and the Average CPM. It is important to understand where these statistics come from in order to make use of them properly.

The Daily Impressions statistic found next to each site represents the number of impressions that were available on the SiteScout platform yesterday for that property. Although it is not possible to know for sure how many impressions will be delivered today, we can use yesterday’s numbers to estimate what today will look like.

The Average CPM price shown, is the average effective CPM that SiteScout sold this property for yesterday. This is a great piece of information to help you determine bid prices, but It’s important to realize that this average could be based on a very large number of impressions purchased, or it could be based on a very small number of impressions purchased. As well, it’s important to realize that since SiteScout RTB is a live auction environment, these prices can change throughout the day depending on other buyers that are bidding on the same inventory.

Whenever you see a site that has an average CPM of $0.00, it is because no bid was won, platform-wide, during yesterday's trafficking activity. It is important to remember that the average CPM reflects the average price of impressions that have been won through the SiteScout platform, exclusively.

There were likely people bidding on, and winning, this traffic from other DSPs, so it is not extremely accurate to judge how much traffic is worth solely on the Average CPM value alone. We normally recommend that you set a default CPM bid of $3.00 to start off with. When doing so, you can see how your campaign performs, and choose to raise or lower your bid accordingly.

The Daily Impressions and Average CPM statistics are also available on a per placement basis for each site. To access this, click on the Action menu and select Ad Placements. You can then see each placement on the site. What the dimensions are. Whether it is above the fold, below the fold or unknown, and of course yesterday’s impression count and yesterday’s average CPM.

Many publishers prefer to divide their traffic and sell it across a variety of exchanges. Thus, some websites appear more than once under our inventory. These entries may also have different CPM's if advertisers end up bidding on some entries more than others.

SiteScout has access to traffic sources across the globe. In terms of international impression density, we see the most traffic in the western hemisphere, and major European countries. Use the "Filters" button to filter available inventory by country.
